I’m Gord Simmonds and I live in the community of Uxbridge, Ontario, which is about 45 minutes to the northeast of Toronto. Although writing a personal blog is not particularly my style, some of my friends feel it would be good to share a little bit about myself and what makes me tick.
So where do I start? I have been blessed with a variety of facets in my life – a wonderful family, a great church community, a long term career with one company, an interest in my community and some interesting causes within it, a love for sports, and a few side elements that have happened along the way.
In this blog you will discover how I grew up in the Uxbridge and Port Perry area of Ontario. Then, how I joined the family in the distribution business and of how I came into leadership at The Lenbrook Group of Companies. You will see how an interest in competitive business activity stems from involvement in team sports in my early years. There I learned the core values, benefits, and challenges of what it means to be an integral part of a team.
A few years ago, I was ready to take on a new challenge and so, in partnership with two friends, bought an OHL Major Jr. ice hockey team, the Belleville Bulls. What a fun and exciting adventure this has been! You can read more about my involvement with the Belleville Bulls or if you want, go straight to the team’s website www.bellevillebulls.com. I did write some blog during last season on that website which you may be able to locate there.
In this blog I will include a few little side notes of other activites in my life that I’ve found interesting and personally rewarding (Room 217, Precious Minds, Rouge Valley Health System Foundation) as I have been fortunate enough to have been asked to help in a few charitable organizations that do some amazingly good things for people.
Over my life, my faith in God has been at the center of my experience. Today we attend the St. Paul’s Leaskdale Church just north of Uxbridge and enjoy being part of that church family.
And of course I save the best to last, my family and my friends. As I mentioned earlier, I have a wonderful family and my wife and I have been blessed with 4 great kids! The Uxbridge area is a wonderful part of Ontario to live in and we enjoy living, and playing, in this community very much.
So here’s a little bit of me, who I am, and what I’ve been involved with over the years. As you will read, faith, family, friends, and various business, sports activities, and charitable causes seem to be driving my priorities. If interested, check in every once in awhile. From from time to time I will endeavor to update this blog a little with some new stories or activities, but in the meantime, if you are interested in reconnecting, feel free to drop me a line at email@example.com.
Until we meet again – take care,
